In a desire to give back, and help out in our community, I searched avenues to volunteer and came across JoyRide Center in Magnolia in 2018.
Admittedly, one of my first impulses to get involved here stemmed from the fact that it was outside and that there were horses involved. But after just a few sessions, I was hooked on working with our clients. It is both amazing and inspiring to see the smiles resultant from the confidence and sense of achievement that our clients experience in working with our stable of hard working horses, dedicated staff and volunteers.
My journey with JoyRide has come full circle from volunteer to board member and now I am actually a client. Following a diagnosis of Guillain Barre Syndrome in May of 2022, I was fully paralyzed for months and have recovered with great effort, lots of prayer and many types of physical therapy. I am about 95% back to normal and continue to improve. I am a testament to JoyRide and the effectiveness of therapeutic riding!

Making an Impact
JoyRide Mission
Founded in 2009, JoyRide is a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Equine Center. The mission of the JoyRide Center is to help people with different abilities find joy in life through equine-assisted services and functional/life skills education
Their programs:
- Therapeutic Riding: Small group lessons, of 2 to 4 riders, taught by PATH Intl. certified therapeutic riding instructors.
- Equine Assisted Learning: Group sessions involving groundwork and equine assisted activities as a learning approach for development of life skills and coping strategies, taught by Path Intl Certified instructors.
- Day Program: The Preparatory program is a functional day adult program where adults can find joy and purpose in their lives through life skills education led by a teacher with a Master's in Education.
- Veterans Program: JoyRide serves Veterans through equine-assisted activities and volunteer opportunites.
